Trying to get into GameDev

I have always been fascinated with the gaming industry because game dev is a mix of so many different concepts. I learnt java some time ago and in order to put into practice what i learnt, i created this simple game from scratch (less of a game to be honest). I am now working on learning C# so i can get started with Unity, but i would love to start building my own simple 2D game engine so i can learn more.
